Around 200 members with friends and families attended the annual event at the Tewkesbury based golf club, organised by this year’s Men’s and Ladies’ Captains Phil Schiaffino and Ros Fenney, to raise funds for their join chosen charity, Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.

Phil and Ros arrived together by helicopter to tee off the day’s activities of family fundraising fun and charity golf including 30 metre children’s fun assault course, Shot Gun Start Texas Scramble, Pig Roast, BBQ and live music.

The Captains took the unusual step to jointly support the same charity after hearing about the benefits of its care for local people. The Captains have been holding various fundraising events and activities at the club since the start of the year leading up to the Captain’s day held on Saturday 15thJuly, a highlight of the club’s fundraising and social calendar.

Phil Schiaffino, Puckrup Captain 2017 said, “The day was a collaboration of 12 months of hard planning between Ros and myself for all to enjoy and we are thrilled that the generosity of our members raised over £9,000 for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court on the day.”

Ros Fenney, Ladies’ Captain 2017 added, “It was wonderful to spend the day out on our stunning course and in the clubhouse afterwards, with members, family and friends as a way of saying thank you for their support and to enjoy their company on this special occasion in our Captains year.”

Phil Schiaffino added, “Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice has touched so many people throughout the club for many years. The care and support given to patients and their families is very special and we wanted to help raise funds so that care can continue.”

Alysia Cameron Price, Community Fundraising Manager for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice said, “The fundraising team were stunned on Monday morning to have an email from Phil to say that their Captain’s Day had raised almost such a huge amount of money for the hospice in just one day. We are so very grateful for the amazing support of the club and its members.”

“As a charity all our services are given free of charge, but we rely on fundraising from the local community for the majority of our income to be able to keep on providing our care. We’re delighted and truly grateful to have the incredible support of Puckrup Hall Golf Club, its Captains and members.”
