The A Team were away at Gloucester on Saturday 5 August.

bigpicThe team was captained by Rich Davis, with John Cox, Chris Sissons, Andy Benson, Steve Peacey, Neil Hobbs, Steve Pitman, Joe Spiers, Richard Williams, Simon White, Nick Axten-Rice and Charlie Dewson. Puckrup lost 2 – 4. Unfortunately, despite the Gloucestershire League Foursomes always being scheduled for a 2.00pm start, when Rich arrived at 12.45, the Gloucester Team were waiting on the first tee as they had booked the match for a 1.00pm start! There was a heated debated about the change and the home side not informing our team, but they insisted that the match had to go ahead at 1.00pm. This meant Richard had to telephone the team to find out where they were and ask them to get to the course as quickly as possible. As team members arrived they had to rush to the first tee, with no time for a practice putt and of course, they did not go out in their usual strategic order as they went out as they managed to get there. Rich said: ‘The rushing around definitely did not help us as the first two groups lost heavily, the next two groups lost on the last hole but good wins for Steve Pitman/Chris Sissons and John Cox/Richard Williams gave us a bit of a lift. A 4 - 2 loss leaves us a mountain to climb to gain promotion.’
